Applies to Self-Extracting publications

Self-Extracting publications require a web browser to run correctly as it was explained here. On this tab you can specify some settings related to this Web browser.

Window State

Select the state of the browser's main window when it will be launched. Please note that this option sometimes does not work because some browsers have default display parameters.

Kiosk mode

When a web browser is run in Kiosk mode, its title bar, menus, toolbars and status bar are not displayed and it shows in full screen mode. The taskbar is not displayed, but you can switch to other running programs by pressing ALT+TAB and CTRL+ALT+DEL.

Important: if you enable the kiosk mode, be sure to inform your end users that they must hit ALT+F4 in order to close the publication.

To enable the kiosk mode, just make the "Launch the web browser in kiosk mode" option active.

Note: the Kiosk mode may not work with all web browsers. This was tested with Microsoft Internet Explorer and Opera. Mozilla Firefox does not provide a kiosk mode (this is an add-on) in the basic build.

Other command line parameters

This field is optional; it allows you to pass additional command line parameters to the web browser. Normally you do not need to use this field, unless you know what you do.

Directly read the web browser from the registry

A default web browser is a browser program which is registered with HTML files, i.e. when you double-click on a HTML file in Windows Explorer, this is the program that is run to display it. Now if you use several Web browsers, they may ask you whether you want to make them the default Web browser.

SFX publications use the Windows API to determine the default Web browser. If your users experiment some problems, you can then try to turn this option on. In this case, the SFX publication will try to find the default Web browser itself by reading the necessary Windows registry entries.

If no default web browser is found, your end users will be prompted to select a web browser's program file.
